Inspired by sweets and treats, BookPal participated in Lakeshore Towers 19th Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. It is no surprise that we chose The Very Hungry Caterpillar children’s book as our inspiration.

Eric Carle is best known for his unique picture books with engaging illustrations designed for young children. Eric Carle is the author of the classic children titles such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and The Grouchy Ladybug. His most famous work, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, has been read by millions of children all over the world and has been translated into more than 50 different languages. Just two years ago, The Very Hungry Caterpillar celebrated its 40th Anniversary. As I am sure most of you remember, this book is about a tiny green caterpillar that eats his way though the book until he transforms into a beautiful butterfly.

For our pumpkin, we combined the classic themes of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and still kept our festive flare. We stuck to the Halloween theme by using small pumpkins to comprise all of the elements in our entry including the body of the caterpillar. BookPal’s take on The Very Hungry Caterpillar was awarded 1st place in the Lakeshore Towers 19th Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest!

BookPal offers all of the versions of The Very Hungry Caterpillar available as well as all of the other Eric Carle classics. Please click here to request a quote!

First, let me begin by proclaiming an obvious fact to people that know us: the staff of BookPal love Amazon. In fact, we have probably received various shipments of movies, video games, jeans, computer software, toys, diapers, coffee, etc. from Amazon every day over the last couple weeks. What’s not to love about a store where I can order coffee, MS Office and a toy for my son all in one shopping basket – it’s e-commerce nirvana!

Many of you might question us about our affinity for Amazon by stating the other obvious fact: “Isn’t Amazon a competitor of BookPal’s?” Well, yes, we are. But in many of the same ways that a local Ralphs or Albertsons can compete, coexist and thrive with a nearby Costco, so can BookPal coexist with Amazon. While both our organizations sell books, BookPal takes the Costco approach of selling in bulk, while Amazon specializes in selling millions of various products one at a time. Clearly, there isn’t a need to always buy books this way – my mom rationally likes to only receive a single copy of a new crime novel or cookbook and wouldn’t have a need to purchase or receive 24 extra copies. Yes, Mom, like I’ve mentioned before, the 25 minimum does apply to family and friends. Read the rest of this entry »

For all the women in your life; read this. “Half the Sky lays out an agenda for the world’s women and three major abuses: sex trafficking and forced prostitution; gender-based violence including honor killings and mass rape; maternal mortality, which needlessly claims one woman a minute. We know there are many worthy causes competing for attention in the world. We focus on this one because this kind of oppression feels transcendent – and so does the opportunity. Outsiders can truly make a difference.”- www.halftheskymovement.org

When businesses, educators, government agencies, and non-profits need multiple copies of a single title- what are their options for easy ordering and fast shipping?

With so many online sellers offering books for sale, customers have almost too many options to choose among — from big retail discounters like Amazon.com, Wal-Mart, Target, and Costco to small local bookstores and online merchants.  Organizations needing to purchase 25, 250 or even 25,000 copies of a paperback or hardcover book need a book seller that understands their needs and can deliver the books quickly.

Whether its a school teacher wanting to find a great deal on paperbacks in bulk for a classroom novel set or freshman reading program or an organization needing lots of copies of a new hardcover book for corporate training program, the endless options for bookstores listed on Google almost seem daunting.
